I have had many wonderful and terrible group presentation experiences. More good than bad, thankfully. Last semester in my Women of the 1920's class, I had a really good group experience. For our final group presentation in the class we had to do re-search on a certain topic pertaining to the upcoming events of the women rights movement.
In my opinion, I feel like the group presentation I was in had a good experience because we planned for communication. As soon as our group was assigned we got to know one another right away and exchanged numbers and formed a group chat. We also picked out our first day to meet, and agreed to start our own part of the research before our first meeting. Everyone including myself did what they needed to do before the first meeting which was awesome.
For our presentation we had to make handout notes, so we formed a google doc and we all wrote a portion of it and helped one another edit. If we were unsure of what one of us was trying to portray or confused with how we were organizing something on the note sheet, we were very verbal with asking and suggesting ways to make our presentation better to one another as well.
What I noticed from the assigned reading under the Planning for Communication part it explains how meetings need structure and procedures, such as using an agenda. Our group had an agenda for each meeting we had, and an agenda from our free time between each meeting and before the actual presentation. I feel that using this type of technique really made my group presentation experience pleasing.

It's awesome that you have had so many good group experiences. I agree, I think getting to know your group and exchanging numbers right away is a good way to get the group members comfortable with each other. Sounds like you really know the best way to work in a group!
