Hannah Rebernisek CTP Blog #1

Out of the five forms of communication, the two that interest me the most are intrapersonal and mass communication. Intrapersonal communication, in short, is the voice in your head and your thought process. This form of communication interests me the most because I experience it every single day. I'm experiencing it as I write this blog post. I think intrapersonal communication is so interesting because you can say or think whatever you want in your mind, and no one will ever know what you're thinking about. While sitting in class the professor might think I'm taking mental notes about what is being taught, when actually I could be thinking about a recipe I found on Pinterest the other day. Intrapersonal communication is also a good way to reflect on your thoughts. After I give a presentation in class, I instantly start thinking about what I could have done better and know that's what I should work on for next time.

I also find mass communication to be quite interesting. Mass communication is transmitted to many people through different mediums. Technology has advanced so much within the past decade, making mass communication possible, Newspapers are a thing of the past. Nowadays, everything is online. My favorite form of mass communication is Facebook. It gives you a chance to express your thoughts and feelings with hundreds or thousands of people at once. It's crazy how a decade ago, we were sending out invitations via the Post Office and now we can just create an event on Facebook.

I am a Communication major with supports in Elective Studies and Business Management. I really have an interest in advertising. Last semester I took a marketing class and it turned out to be my favorite class that semester. I like advertising/marketing because it gives you a chance to be creative and converse with others to come up with an idea. I'm not sure exactly where I would like to work or what my title would be, but ideally I'd like to work in advertising, social media, or even sports marketing. An internship through Northwestern Mutual or even the Milwaukee Brewers could be a great fit for me,

  1. I think its interesting on how our voice in our head has a huge impact on how we act and how easily were distracted by our own thoughts. It is crazy how much technology has changed and how we communicate with others. I like the example you use where a decade ago we were sending invites through the mail, now we just use Facebook.
