- What kids know about whos running for president- good story
- The movie Deepwater Horizon-good story
- Yahoo being hacked-bad story
- Stopping Drug Addiction-bad story
The reality that the news is showing the viewer is very little. For the kids it is a good story showing parents that kids to listen, but it could be scripted. Another story is the drug addiction. They want people to put there unused medicine in bins. But the bottles still have your information on it. Whos seeing the bottles and what are the doing with the medicine?
My findings do reflect on the reading I did this week. It changed my point of view on how the media tells us information going on in our world. They tell us part of the truth, but point our eyes in a different direction by showing us a good, heart warming story right after.
Did the broadcast cover anything about the riots in Charlotte? It's surprising to me that they did not cover that story, considering how much of an impact it is having on the nation at the moment. However, I do agree upon the fact that the broadcasters soften the blow of the negative stories by masking it with a positive story afterwards. It almost nulls it out completely.
ReplyDeleteI also watched a Fox 6 News broadcast; however, I watched the 10PM news on Friday night. The newscast you watched seemed to have a good balance between good and bad stories. I think that is done intentionally to counteract with one another, so that reality doesn't seem so negative to the viewer. When I watched the news, it was almost all bad stories with only one good one. That's how I think the news should be reported. Although I would have liked to have seen more positive stories, the reality is the world can be a negative place and the news should reflect that and not necessarily distract viewers from bad stories with good stories.
