Danielle's Blog Post #3

One really great group “teamwork” experience I had was a final exam in a business management class (MGT 221) three or four semesters ago. My group had an interesting topic: to explore STARBUCKS company and management! This was a plus since I had to go to Starbucks and study the environment along with their service, etc. (thumbs up!)

My group was a very optimistic group from day one to presentation day. We went over what we had to do (and criteria), we arranged meetings every week until finals according to our schedules, we kept in touch through emails and text, and we asked any questions and we answered them pretty quickly. When we had weekly meetings, we arrived on-time (if not, we were notified before the meeting), communicated what we have done, shared and collaborated on our research, and had, occasionally, friendly chats. I do not think I have ever felt any anxiety about that final not getting finished on-time or if any of the group members will not show up on presentation day.

My group and I effectively presented strong group communication. We listened and were open to each others ideas, we were present and all participated in our conversations, we gave feedback to each other, and problem solved through any concerns or questions anyone would have. Everyone was very dependable. We had a lot of group decision making since we had to meet a lot of criteria on the final. Since everyone was open, it was easy to decide and split up the criteria.

It was actually interesting to find out about Starbucks and what employees benefits are! (like college achievement program, free bag of coffee weekly, etc) You can check that out by clicking here! There were other group experiences I had that didn't go to well, but I found this link helpful. Overall, this was an optimistic group experience I ever had for a final presentation ... in a business management class!

This is a photo I took after the semester I took MGT 221. I went to Starbucks in Disney World to observe the employees and enjoy a drink; however, wherever I go, Wisconsin or Florida, Starbucks employees can never get my name right. I usually give them my nickname, Dee, to make things easier, but.. well.. we all know how that happened in the picture above. It cracks me up every time.

  1. The picture is funny and personal! The two links you provided were very helpful. I liked how you gave a detailed description of your group experience and how it affected you. Good use of incorporating the reading into your post it really shows that you have read the material and understood it's meaning. Tavia

  2. The links you did provide were very helpful! The way you described the use of communication really reflect on great teamwork you had for the presentation. It sounds like a great group to work with if you had balanced messages, great problem solving skills and could collaborate effectively! If only every group project turned out like this!
