I have never actually taken the time to sit down and watch the news. Maybe because I only get three channels in my dorm room? I think I hooked up my TV wrong, but thats not the point. I have never found the certain joy in watching the news as most people do. I decided to tune into Fox6 News for the first time in a long time and learned something - the news likes to cover the weather, politics, events, and tragedies around the area. The order in which they covered everything were as follows: Weather, tragedy, potential jobs coming to Milwaukee, Presidential Debate and campaign stops, Ro-bo Advisors, Race for the Cure, and back to the weather forecast. In my opinion, the news tries to get the bad news out of the way first. For example, they have a segment called Tragedy. In this segment they briefly cover a man drowning in a lagoon in Mitchell Park, which is still a developing story. They then moved quickly to a different story of a shooting that happened in Milwaukee involving three men, Arlis Gordon, Carl Barrett, and Paul Farr. They claimed to have opened fire on the wrong house, injuring the woman that lives there. They covered this segment in no more than two minuets.
After that, they mentioned how there were going to be over 2,000 jobs making it's way into Milwaukee through the postal services. I did not really pay attention to this part of the broadcast because finding a job right now does not apply to me as much as it would for other individuals.
Next, the news jumped to politics, everyones favorite subject. Did you feel the sarcasm there? As I was watching this segment of the news, I noticed that they only cared to talk about Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. They did not mention the third party at all. On the broadcast, they brought in the mayor of Milwaukee, who is a supporter of Clinton, and Van Mobley, the president of the Village of Thiensville, who is a supporter of Trump. They both gave their reasoning as to why they were supportive of the Democratic party or Republican party, both very interesting. Fox 6 reporters then mentioned when the candidates, or people representing the candidates are coming to the Milwaukee area.
The news then switched to Ro-bo Advisors. Apparently Ro-bo Advisors are bringing in the big bucks for many companies. Although it is helping companies, Ro-bo Advisors cannot help with many personal finances.
Race for the Cure! This topic mainly showed women, children, and an extended amount of pink. They talked about when and where the event took place.
The news then ended with the weather forecast once again explaining how the weather was sever, but it was nothing to worry about. The meteorologist then went over the weather for the week once again.
Just like you, I never like watching the news at all. I did notice that when I do watch the news they always get the bad news out of the way. Probably because we dislike bad news and sad stories. I loved the way you wrote your blog, you added a personal touch to it. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI watched the same segment as you and I also found it interesting how they put the bad news in after the weather and only talked about the subjects for less than a minute. Not much was really explained in detail. You wrote your blog in a way that was easy for me to get into, because it was written sort of in a personal matter it was easier to relate.
